Is professional dreamboat Xabi Alonso going to break hearts across Merseyside by defecting to Real Madrid?

Now that Florentino Perez has been appointed president of Real Madrid, it’s time for them to spend a whole shitload of money. Asshole, Ribery and Kaka are all on the shopping list of the President of Galactico’s, who said  they need to do 3 years work  in 1 year to catch up to Barcelona.

And what they’ve correctly realised is that all the attacking talent in the world is completely useless if you don’t have the ball, and you don’t control the game.  Given the undisputed master of this talent, Xavi, is playing for their direct rivals, Madrid are looking to Alonso to play this role.

It’s no surprise there’s an interest there, indeed everyone seems to want a piece of Xabi, and dispite the fact that he was alledgedly “hurt” by Benitez’s willingness to offload him last summer, his form this year has been imperious, and subsequently Benitez doesn’t want to sell him.

Indeed, in spite of the rumours, Benitez doesn’t think they need to sell Alonso this summer, stating

“We have some ideas for the future, without losing any of our key players.”

Alonso’s agent seems pretty adamant he’s going to stay. With Liverpool looking likely to refinance their debt, there wouldn’t seem to be much likelihood of this going through on the face of it.

If all of these things are true, then it would seem unlikely that Liverpool would sell unless Real came in with an obscene offer.
