Sergio Aguero to Chelsea

Will Sergio Aguero be the next star at Stamford Bridge?
Even the Sun doesn’t think this is too likely to happen, stating that “…the Spanish club fear a backlash from their fans if they sell Aguero, 21, so close to the start of the season.”.
This is likely to join the increasingly long list of failed targets for the Blues this season; Franck Ribery, Kaka, Alexandre Pato, Andrea Pirlo, etc. No doubt this displeases John Terry, who famously started the transfer window declaring his transfer targets:
There’s talk of Ribery and Villa and when big players like that come up, we need to show people that Chelsea are back. We want to show we’re going to compete for the best players out there.
We want to attract the best to Chelsea. If we can do that, with successes like the FA Cup and pushing for the Premier League again next season, we’re going to get players like Ribery and Villa
But why the long face blues fans? The blues came third last season by goal difference, they’ve kept all their players and brought in the excellent Yuri Zhirkoff. These kind of Marquee signings were a hallmark of the early days of Abramovich, but have tapered off in the past few years, and given the squad they’ve got, plus Ancelotti’s import of the Milan Lab team, despite the gradual aging of the squad, they’re going to be able to play at the top level for a few more years.
So buck up John, you’ve got the strongest team in the premiership, even if you don’t get Maradona’s son in law.
