Is Miguel Veloso going to Manchester City this summer?

As city look to strengthen their underachieving squad, player agents look to see if they can a piece of the money that’s being thrown around by the Sheikhs, they dust of their prize assets and parade them before prize idiot Garry Cook. The prize asset in this case is Miguel Veloso, former Bolton target, and fun size Portuguese defensive shield. Veloso is cut from the same cloth as Javier Mascherano, small, mobile & aggressive a defensive, harrying midfielder. Since Didi Hamann’s long term injury and age kicked in, City have often relied on Vincent Kompany as their midfield shield. Kompany has done a reasonable job there, but lacks the mobility and pace to turn defence into attack quickly.

Veloso comes with some risk, as a physical player who is used to playing in the not altogether physical Portuguese League, he might not be able to keep up with the physical demands and pace of the premier league. On the plus side, he is young, talented and probably up for a new challenge.

Amongst all the outlandish Kaka, Ronaldinho, Zinedine Zidane’s rumoured to be on their way to city, the acquisition of this player would be a good one for city, and given he’s not a superstar, and the larger clubs don’t seem particularly interested in him, he may be a good fit.

City have been making noises about Veloso since the beginning of the year, and given money doesn’t seem to be any object, it seems likely that this deal will go through.
