No One to Manchester United

After winning the premiership for the 3rd year in a row, this was shaping up to be the summer of Fergie, sadly, not everything’s gone to plan.  It was clearly on the cards that Asshole was leaving at the end of the season, so it was extremely odd to not bother making an effort to keep Tevez.  The pair contributed 41 goals between the two of them last season, and although Tevez didn’t have the best season, his loss is going to be a blow to United.  One of the things that has really worked for Fergie is having a large squad, but also a settled squad.  They can afford to bring in 1 or 3 big players every year, which means new players can slot in with minimal disruption to the overall squad.

What’s more galling for the Glaswegian is that he’s missing out on all his main targets, Ribery & Villa won’t come, Benzema & Kaka have signed for Real, and that’s it as far as ‘A’ grade targets are concerned.  There are a few ‘B’ list options, Arjen Robben, David Silva, Douglas Costa, but each of these presents an expensive and significant risk, and are not going to get the faithful at Old Trafford renewing their season tickets.

While not many teams would complain of ‘only’ having a front line of Dimitar Berbatov and Wayne Rooney, the lack of another truly world class forward is going to affect their marketability, their ticket sales and their performance on the pitch.

Can you think of anyone who fits the bill for United?

It’s plain for anyone to see. Ferguson is about to do a runner, making sure that he totally messes Man U around, so no manager who takes over from him stands a chance. lol

surely if they are faithful, they would renew their season tickets, no matter what?
