Who they need

Apparently they need another forward, likely to be in the shape of Emmanuel Adebayor, which is perplexing, but I guess if you’ve got £200 million to spend, who’s to tell you how to spend it.  They’re also looking at some defenders, John Terry remains a possiblity, but they’re strugging to attract world class names at the back.

Who they don’t need

All of those promising youngsters who were the hallmark of Sven’s stint at Eastlands look like they’re going to be shown the door. And given Hughes has spent over 80 million on world class forwards (and Roque Santa Cruz) some, or all, of the more average forwards that are still on the books are likely to be on their way out, yes we’re talking about you Craig Bellamy, and you Benjani.
