David Silva to Liverpool

David Silva to Liverpool?
This isn’t the first time that this rumour has appeared on these pages, however it seems like there is movement afoot.
Having previously denied any intention of making an offer for Silva because the price was too high, it seems Liverpool have gone back with a low bid, in the hope that Barca, Real and Juve don’t present a decent bid.
Silva should be able to fit into Benitez system, playing either the Pablo Aimar role that was so crucial to Valencia and Benitez’s success in La Liga, or as an alternative on the left, with a bit of skill and imagination that is currently lacking in Liverpool’s front line. He’s also a tough little bugger, which will serve him well in the Premier League.
Even if this interest is accurate, the likelihood of this transfer going through isn’t high. There are at least 3 other serious clubs interested in him, and it’s unlikely that Liverpool have the cash to enter a bidding way with Barca and Real.
The Juve interest is a bit odd, as the Old Lady is no longer wealthy, and the Turin club have already spunked a large wedge on a creative forward in the form of Diego, of Werder Bremen fame, so it seems unlikely that they can afford (and indeed need) both players.
Liverpool will need to pray for a Fernando Torres-esque situation, where most of the big boys are focussed on other targets, and the player has his mind set on setting up shop at anfield next season.
